A guide that explains some basic concepts in Life Eater game and also hints and optional walkthrough for if you’re stuck.
Investigation / Stalker mode
First, in order to abduct your target, you need 1: Enough information about their schedule and 2: A time block where your target is both unarmed and alone.
There are three levels of information uncovering activities that arouse different levels of suspicion as in accordance to the levels of disruption to the Target’s life. They range from +5%, +10% and +25%. If you try to uncover a timeline block and the screen shakes with no new information gained, you’ve hit a concealed activity. If you want to uncover the concealed activity, you’ll need to perform a higher level observation.
Use low level activities to keep suspicion low while gaining enough schedule information to abduct your beast of sacrifice. But notice that there’s nothing stopping Lv. 1 activities from costing more time than Lv. 3, so decide which is more valuable: the suspicion or the time saved.
Look at the time blocks of the schedule not just for your current target but in consideration of all the other schedules. If two time blocks share the same time span, this could be a good way to get information on your target.
Also the tally of strange masks that appear next to your suspicion reducing actions? Consider those “suspicion blockers”. If you want to do a risky action at high suspicion level, select the “suspicion blocker” mask next to the action to prevent it from raising any suspicion. They’re only used when the action is completed so don’t worry about mis-clicking on the wrong action.
Water the Flower
This ritual requires intimate knowledge of your target and you can’t go back to check your logs once their chest has been opened, so get as much information as you need before going in.
The checklist of information for performing Water the Flower is as followed :
- Sleep duration (Tally whether the target’s sleep schedule meets at least 6 hours in total)
- Commute (Whether the commute timeline block shows up around their work schedule)
- Bathroom frequency (Whether your target has +2 bathroom breaks or not)
- Whether the target has specifically black hair or not.
- Whether the target lives alone. (Sleeping alone is not sufficient.)
- Whether the target has children.
Year One
“A body that is familiar with the harvest. Take him.”
A simple tutorial to get you started. Get used to the feel of your investigations.
Year Two
“Two bodies for the field of harvest.”
More tutorials with the introduction of the “Opportunity Block.” Select this pink square for the chance to uncover target information.
Year Three
“Someone with no friends. Someone who will not be missed.”
Here I find it now prudent to offer optional spoilers, now that the handholding section has passed.
Hint: A valuable way to see what one does for recreation is to observe them on traditional days for leisure.
Spoiler: Check your target activities on the weekend. If any of them involve social activities that don’t use the internet, leave them alone.
Year Four
“They do no work, hold no value. Taste of sloth.”
A straightforward abduction.
Hint: Zimforth desires a target that does no work. This should be fairly simple to rule out.
Spoiler: Check the typical working days for any “Working” blocks on each of your targets. Ignore the two that have them.
Year Five
“He’s practically dead already… Take him when his loved ones leave his side.”
Your target is obvious. The only question is how to get to him. He has far too many schedule blocks where abducting him isn’t feasible, so how to get him nice and alone?
Also side note, this is your warning that the “Alone” marker that shows on some “Sleeping” routine blocks is not automatic proof that your Target actually lives alone regarding the Water the Flower ritual.
Hint: His caretakers can’t be omnipresent. Try to look for an opportunity where they’re drawn away from your target, like an emergency. Maybe someone in the building can provide that distraction…
Spoiler: Check the timeline for when the nurse and the wife’s schedules sync together. It may be a bit difficult to focus, but you should be able to find your window of opportunity.
The Answer: Thursday. 10 AM.
Year Six
“Perhaps a monster will satisfy your broken conscience. After all: You only get so few.”
It’ll take some effort to find the monster here. Don’t be distracted by any individual acts of human pettiness, there’s a smoking gun here somewhere.
Hint: Look through the days of the week and try to see if your targets’ timelines can provide you more information without wasting as much time guessing.
Spoiler: Someone’s throwing a party near the end of the week and all of your persons of interest are coming. Find this schedule block, then investigate around that time span to try to find someone indulging in more than mischievous activities.
The Answer: Friday night, 7-9 PM. Your target will have two small schedule blocks appear just before the costume party.
Year Seven
“They have a second job. Such a full life… take it from them.”
Scanning the work week for the unemployed won’t work here. Everyone is a busybody. And if you worry that Zimforth is being more obtuse than usual, that is because he is.
Hint: Check for any major time investments that show up after your Person of Interest has finished working.
Spoiler: Check the hint above first. Your smoking gun is the “Walking Dogs” time block.
Year Eight
“A new face in the band, joining for a single, eventful tour. They’re a drifter…which makes them all the more easier to hide.”
This one is easy when you understand chronological events. But also mind the short time before the Reckoning.
Hint: They had to convince their band members to let them play beforehand. But where?
Spoiler: Check the early half of the week. Your target will have their band audition take up a large section of time.
Year Nine
“All share a house, but two share blood. Kill them both.”
Don’t misled yourself…
Hint: You’re going to have to do some careful digging around the working days. Find the colored timeline segments.
Spoiler:Your Targets both coo at the name of “Leanna”. Find the two that do, and don’t make any brash assumptions about their moral character.
The Answer:Andrea and Jacob are your two targets.
Year Ten
“You know who I want dead. You are mine, alone and forever.”
Zimforth’s final request.
Hint:Choose your target carefully.
Spoiler:Waiting out the time won’t save anyone.
The Answer:Zimforth is not a kind god.
Have fun
