A guide for I Wani Hug that Gator! that dips into how to get the endings so that you can HUG THAT GATOR!
In this guide, I will shallowly explore the ins and outs of Wani’s point system and how it works with all four of its endings. As well as some additional unorganized tidbits about I Wani Hug that Gator!
I will give warning that there will be some spoilers, so I do recommend you come to this guide only if you’ve finished a few of the endings and are looking to get that last one or two.
Point System
The point system in Wani is tied to the choices that you make throughout your time playing. It is very simple to understand—so simple in fact that I can fit it onto a 7 x 7 Excel sheet—(it’s 8 x 8 but we can just ignore that)
So as you can see here, the point system only goes up to a maximum of five per Inco and Olivia. If you are familiar with Cavemanon’s Snoot Game[snootgame.xyz], go play it if you haven’t, you may see it works very similarly to that but it doesn’t share the exact same point outcomes.
Certain choices you make will have a point tied to either Inco or Olivia. Which will contribute to which ending you get. There aren’t any choices that you have to pick between to get one point or another, i.e. if one dialogue option gave a point for Inco and the other gave one for Olivia, you either get a point or you don’t. So get those scores high so you can truly Hug that Gator, or get them low and suffer.
Epilogue
There is a bonus epilogue you get after you’ve completed all 4 endings that will show up on the main menu, replacing the Start button with E4 Epilogue. If you do get ending 4 last you will automatically go to the epilogue. You can go through the epilogue again after the title card for Ending 4
Special thanks to Cavemanon for including this nifty debug menu that allows you to see your current points and what ending you are on as without this I probably wouldn’t have been able to make this guide in the first place. It can enabled by just clicking Enable Debug Scores. Although it won’t show the ending you are on until you reach the point when Ben, Mia, and Inco are in Scaler’s office and Inco is told to give his side of the story. Currently I do not know what score_inco_support does, it triggers when you select Show support for Olivia. during Choice #9 and it doesn’t seem to lock you out of any endings if it is false.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT BEN_STORY
This has to be checked TRUE in order to get Ending 4. (in order to get it checked TRUE, you have to choose Let her fail during choice #11)
This screen appears when you Enable Chapter Select and select Start from… on the main menu. All this does is that when you select one of the options, it gives you the points needed to complete one of the four endings.
- One gives both Inco and Olivia zero points
- Two gives Inco zero points and Olivia four points
- Three gives Inco four points and Olivia zero points
- Four gives both Inco and Olivia four points and sets ben_story to TRUE
I have not tested if you start from the beginning with max points and select the correct choices; you will go beyond the maximum five points you can get in a normal playthrough, but I assume anything beyond that will just give you Ending 4.
CHAPTERS
The chapters in Wani are not as relevent to how you aquire the endings, but I feel like explaining it so it is known that they exist. You can Enable Chapter Select in the options to start from the beginning of any chapter. There are a total of ~19.5 chapters with chapters 15 to 19 having 4 different variations based on which ending you are currently on: A, B, C, and D
- A (Killer) = Ending 1
- B (Simp) = Ending 2
- C (Recovery) = Ending 3
- D (Golden) = Ending 4
The chapter files can be found in …/game/script/
I may eventually add a section in this guide where I go over where each chapter starts and ends but that may take a while to do.
Choices
There are roughly 23 choices for you to make in Wani, 10 of which earn you points towards the endings, ranging from what type of swag to pick to the most import choices you will ever make. There are some choices that require you to pick a specific option in a previous choice to get them.
Choices only start to get important around the 7th one, so I will start with that one and include all the other important ones.
Be warned; there will be spoilers ahead. So if you know you know, and if you don’t know THEN GET OUT OF HERE AND GO GET SOME OF THOSE ENDINGS FIRST
Choice #7
G8TOR SK8TER
Choosing Draw the gator girl on a half pipe will earn 1 point for Inco
Choice #8

Choosing Show support for Olivia will earn 1 point for Olivia
Choice #10
All those moments
Choosing But why do all this? will earn 1 point for Inco
Choice #11
Lost in time
This a non-point choice but it is a requirement for both the next choice point and to be eligible to get Ending 4, so choose Let her fail.
Choice #12
Like tears in rain
Choosing You can still take back the reigns of your life and own your mistakes will earn 1 point for Olivia
Choice #13
KICK HIS ASS HOTWHEELS
Choosing Cheer Olivia on will earn 1 point for Olivia
Choice #15

Choice #16

This is a non-point choice but it has a required dialogue to get on the path to the next point choice, so choose Go find Olivia
Choice #20
Help a skinnie out
This choice is the same as the previous one, so choose Ask Olivia for help, how does she know how to deal with avoiding upsetting others
Choice #21A
Girls, girls, you’re both pretty
This is what I call a variation choice; it has two separate dialogues depending on whether you find Olivia or not. Both of you are wrong only appears in Version A; it’s not named this; I just decided to call it that.
This is a point choice, however, so choose Both of you are wrong to get 1 point for Inco
Choice #22
NOW’S NOT THE TIME BEN
Choosing We’re not ready to say goodbye will earn 1 point for Inco
The Finishing Line
In this section, I’m going to go over a summary of the endings for those who want to know what happens in them before doing them. These summaries will be in my own words and views, so take them with a grain of salt. I’m going to summarize the summary into four basic parts: Olivia grieving, the date, the Winter Formal, and the after. This way, I don’t have a multi-paragraph word salad of what is supposed to be a simple summary; it’s still going to be pretty long.
I will be putting a spoiler over the summary in case some poor sap that hasn’t gone through them gets to this part, but I won’t put one on the name of the ending like previously in this guide.
Ending 1: Killer
Olivia does not take Iadakan’s passing well, shutting herself off in her room and watching old anime, with Inco not trying too hard to help her.
Their date takes them to the mall, where an influencer Inco watches, is attending a Meet ‘n’ Greet. It goes horribly, with the influencer arriving drunk and Olivia being disinterested most of the time. When Olivia gets home, she tells Vinny to “♥♥♥♥ off.”.
Before the formal, Olivia gets into a fight with Liz that breaks out into a fight with the Payne’s, and her dress gets ruined. Inco takes her on a detour and forces her to wear a revealing dress. During Iadakan’s eulogy, which Olivia had not bothered to have a speech for, she breaks down, and Inco takes a picture, believing this to be a grand moment. Olivia retreats to a stairwell, where Inco forces her to hug him. She pushes back, falling down the stairs. She is later seen in a coma, with Inco still believing he was doing the right thing.
TL;DR: Inco becomes a narcissistic psychopath and puts the poor gator in a coma.
Ending 2: Simp
Olivia sits in the darkness, with her window painted black, surrounded by a ring of her old sketches. Inco does talk to her, but it seems to help somewhat as Olivia comes out of her room in the evening. Inco stays the night, and in the morning, Olivia invites him on a date to an art showcase.
They get to the showcase early, and in a cafe, Olivia mentions that Iadakan’s work is on display there. While walking around, they meet the gallery owner, Alena, who shows them Iadakan’s art. Here, she says that she is Iadakan’s apprentice. At the end of the date, Inco asks Olivia to the Winter Formal, and she is ecstatic. Inco also gives her an idea for her speech: to say how much Iadakan affected her and how his teachings shaped her, and to make a big point.
Pre-formal goes better than last, with Olivia wearing a sewn, plain white dress. Everything during the formal goes somewhat smoothly until the eulogy. Olivia comes off as pretentious during the speech and gets some jeers from other students. Inco tries to encourage her, but it makes the situation worse. This causes her to storm out and have a semi-breakup with Inco outside. Inco later begs her to take him back. A few years later, Inco and Olivia are in a small apartment in a loveless relationship. Olivia is a struggling artist trying to get her big break. It ends with the two arguing and Olivia smashing a flower vase.
TL;DR: Olivia gets too full of herself.
I have to put an extra section as I ran out of room on the other one.
Ending 3: Recovery
Olivia sits in a state similar to E2, but she is playing games and is even more talkative this time. Olivia and Inco snuggle together, wrapped up in a blanket, with him reading all her failed attempts to formulate a speech for Iadakan’s eulogy. Olivia accidentally reveals that she had tried to walk and bruised her left knee, which Inco patches up. Olivia allows herself to be taken out of the room right after. Eventually, Damien, Vinny, Inco, and Olivia all play a game together and later have a pizza dinner.
Next morning, Inco invites Olivia on a date to the Volcaldera Bluffs. They go for a walk on some trails, eventually getting lost but then getting guided to a lookout point where they watch the sunset and Olivia sketches the view.
Pre-formal, Olivia and Inco don’t go along with Damien and Liz, as Olivia doesn’t know what her speech will be. They get on the metro and just go with the flow of where it will go, leading them to a bistro where some flame performers are putting on a show. During the performance, the head of the family of the performers passed down his title to his granddaughter. Seeing how happy the grandfather is for his granddaughter, Olivia gets her inspiration for her speech and tells Inco they have to hurry to the Winter Formal. They stop along the way to get a kimono for Olivia. Their effort was for naught, as they arrive at closing time for the formal, with Ben getting angry at Olivia. Olivia has become disinterested in going to school and has been skipping, only doing homework with Inco in her room. Ben comes by to tell her that she will be expelled if this keeps up.
A year later, Inco and Olivia are living together in an apartment, with Inco going to college and Olivia being a low-earning full-time streamer. They decide to get brunch with the Payne’s later but end up stopping to visit their school before hand. Olivia sees Iadakan’s memorial plaque on a school display. Olivia gets information about Iadakan’s grave site from Principal Scaler. They look for his grave and eventually find it, with Olivia giving it the speech she had prepared that year ago.
TL;DR: Olivia partially found the closure she needed, but it was a year too late.
Ending 4: Golden
Olivia is in a similar state to E3, with painted windows, sitting in the dark, and lying on her bed, where she has been writing her speech and drafting the painting of the fountain. She asks Inco to take pictures of the fountain for reference. Inco cleans her windows and takes her to the living room. They play a coop game while the Payne family watches and makes bets on them. Later in the evening, they have a pizza dinner, with Olivia trading a bite of her anchovy pizza for a kiss and a romantic date with Inco. Inco stays the night, and in the morning he heads into Olivia’s room and watches anime. They eventually have a sketch session, with Inco asking Olivia to do the formal on it.
A week later, Olivia’s chair arrives, and they put it together in her room while discussing plans for their date, and they decide to go to a hibachi grill in Lil’ Troodon. During the date, Olivia is called wani, meaning gator, by the chef, and Inco buys some pocket warmers for her. After dinner, they go to the open air and do some Christmas shopping there. Later in the day, they stop by a Christmas tree and sit in silence, enjoying each other’s company.
Pre-formal Inco is supporting Olivia while she is putting the finishing touches on her painting, eventually being shooed out so that Olivia can change. She later comes out in an elegant sewn dress. After they arrive at the formal, they head to Iadakan’s memorial, where Olivia hangs up her painting. They look for Ben backstage, as he said he was going to apologize to Olivia for everything he had done in the past, which he does. They head out to the dance floor, and during the slow dance, a beautifully animated dance plays out where Olivia uses her tail to stand. After the formal is over, in the limo, Olivia realizes that there was never a speech portion for the end, so they look for Ben. It is revealed that Mia is withholding Ben’s psychotic medication as punishment for not throwing Inco under the bus. After Ben trips, she punches him in the eye, which is seen by all the
people who haven’t left. Ben runs off, and Inco chases him while Olivia gives her speech, which echos through the halls as Inco finds Ben at Iadakan’s memorial. They talk about what happened, and Inco decides to take Ben along to get ice cream with the group.
During Christmas at the Payne residence, Inco gifts Olivia a brace for her tail. After graduation, Damien, Liz, Ben, Inco and Olivia take a week-long trip to visit the volcano islands. A few days into it, they set up on the balcony of the hotel, eat pizza, and talk about life while Olivia sketches the view. Later, they have a pass-around drawing session, ending it all with a group photo.
TL;DR: Olivia gets the closure she needs with both Iadakan’s passing and everything that has happened with Ben. She is truly happy with everyone and everything.
Credits and Epilogue
During the credits, it goes through everyone that Inco and Olivia met with an unknown person asking them what they know about Inco and Olivia’s current whereabouts. The epilogue begins four years later, with Damien, Liz (who is pregnant), Inco, and Olivia coming out of a movie a company did that they had worked on. Inco and Olivia later head to the fountain, where they reminisce about all the memories that they had. They make a wish, with Olivia wishing to be as good a teacher as Iadakan was, and Inco proposes to her.
TL;DR: It was a beautiful ride
Wheels of Fate
This couple cabinet seen at the beginning and end of the arcade sequence would make you think that it would show you your current ending progress, à la Snoot Game with its Tarot card mechanic. Alas, it does not change at all and only stays burning.
There is a scene in the game that does in fact act similar to the Tarot card mechanic that happens after Scaler, Ferris, Inco, and Olivia talk about the problems in St. Hammond outside, when Mr. Ferris asks how Inco is doing not just as a student but as a growing adult. I’ll put the entirety of everything that is written that changes between the endings.
Ending 1
Inco
I think I’m doing perfectly well in that regard.
And so is Olivia here!
I gesture over to the green dino, who seems to jump in surprise.
Olivia
O-Oh. Yeah, of course.
The response seems almost instinctual on her part.
That must mean she’s really taken to my support! Phew, that’s a relief.
Mr. Ferris
I suppose that’s good to hear.
Ending 2
Inco
This school has really helped me learn a lot, sir.
I respect the efforts of the students and faculty alike for their efforts in making me feel welcome.
It’s much more refined than my old school, atleast.
Olivia
Wow, you might as well ask him for a letter of recommendation already.
…Huh?
Inco
That’s not what I was doing, Olivia.
Olivia doesn’t even respond to me, instead laughing quietly to herself.
Mr. Ferris
I’ll keep that in mind.
Ending 3
Inco
Honestly? I’ve learned quite a lot in these last few months.
Not just about school stuff. That’s kind of a given.
No. I mean, about life… friendship… and myself.
Most importantly though, I think I’m starting to realize that no matter how much I learn in life, there’s always going to be something more to learn.
Mr. Ferris
That’s quite a deep way of looking at things. It’s also a very good attitude to have going into adulthood.
Sounds like you’re well on your way towards becoming a successful young man.
Olivia lets out a snort.
Olivia
Baa! Sounds like nothing but philosophical bull to me.
Of course there’s a limit to what one person can learn.
Also, what’s the point of trying to get anything else when there’s already enough to try and figure out as is?
Ferris lets out a sigh and gives Olivia a warm smile, but otherwise says nothing.
Ending 4
Inco
Honestly? At the start of the year, I’d have told you things weren’t looking too good.
But I’ve met some really good friends here at St. Hammond, and I feel like things will be okay for us.
I can’t help but look towards Olivia as I say that.
She stares back in a faint expression of surprise, but it quickly melts away into a warm smile.
Olivia
Yeah, that sums it up pretty well.
Ferris looks up from his clipboard towards us, a smirk forming on his otherwise flat face.
Mr. Ferris
I’m glad to hear you two are doing well.
Extra Sketches
As of February 16th, 2024, there are currently no bonus chapters for getting all four endings, but similarly to Snoot Game, I imagine they’ll be coming sometime in the future.
There is, however, the bonus epilogue you get after you’ve completed all 4 endings that will show up on the main menu, replacing the Start button with E4 Epilogue. If you do get ending 4 last you will automatically go to the epilogue. You can go through the epilogue again after the title card for Ending 4
