Basic guide to Deathblossom Bosses. Some of the boss fights are difficult if you weren’t paying close attention to the mechanics. This is a few tips that should see you through them, with some practice and luck.
Cotton 1
Cotton’s last line before her battle tells us how to beat her, telling the goons to not shoot her in the back of the head. However, I read this too quickly, and assumed she wanted to kill us herself, and not have us shot in the back of the head.
One of the features of the game you might not have noticed if you killed the gun-wielding undead fast enough is that friendly fire is on. This friendly fire is the only thing that can damage Cotton in this fight. To do this, simply walk up to one of the gun-wielding undead to the left right or top of the arena with Cotton behind you, and then dodge the bullets so that they hit her. After 3 times, Cotton will fall.
Bitterbrush
Strictly speaking, you never have a direct battle with Bitterbrush. You simply have a level where the gimmick is that he’s trying to snipe you. All you have to do is make sure you’re never in his sight line for too long. Simply dash behind some cover, or if you’re feeling especially brave, other enemies.
Cotton 2
After going through enough stages in Deathblossom, you’ll reach an area full of explosives, and the switch for them. Simply activate it, and Cotton will be blown to smithereens.
Stonecrop in Deathblossom
Overview of the Battle
Stonecrop presents a challenging battle. Even with the right strategies, it may take several attempts to succeed. Reacting in time to her projectiles can be extremely difficult.
Projectiles and Their Effects
Stonecrop’s projectiles are particularly troublesome. They can course-correct if they miss and are explosive, making them nearly impossible to dodge reliably.
Defensive Strategy
To survive, you need to block her projectiles when possible. Standing firmly behind cover can shield you from damage, as the projectiles will destroy the cover instead. However, be cautious. If you stand too close, the explosions can harm you.
Managing Cover and Ammo Boxes
Throughout the stage, you’ll find ammo boxes protected by covering. Blowing these up is necessary to access the ammo. Avoid standing too close to these boxes, as the artillery continues to fall, which can destroy the cover you need.
Movement Strategy
The clockwise path seems to be the intended route through the battle. The counter-clockwise path leads to a longer stretch without cover. However, simply walking to cover will not be fast enough. Instead, dash while shooting at Stonecrop to recharge your dash ability.
Dealing Damage to Stonecrop
To defeat Stonecrop, you need to damage her multiple times. This can be done using your bullets, artillery, or even her own shots if she gets too close to the explosions. Be prepared to utilize several ammo boxes during the fight.
Finding Ammo
There are three alcoves with additional ammo besides the boxed coverings. The left and top left alcoves are blocked by a line of cover containing ammo boxes. Getting Stonecrop to destroy these can be tricky since you can’t hide behind cover. It requires precise dodging, which is challenging under pressure.
Instead, rely on artillery to clear these alcoves for you. Timing is essential, as there will be a delay before the next artillery strike. Make sure you are near the covering you want destroyed when the next strike occurs. Lastly, the top right alcove contains a shotgun skeleton with an ammo box for you to grab.

Re: Stonecrop: I think you're intended to bounce her cannonballs back at her, using the infinite bullet time you have in that fight, since her cannonballs will always bounce back *towards you* if they don't hit a wall or a destructable.
Just roughly time her reload and hit bullet time when you feel like she's going for another shot. Dodge it one way, and immediately turn back to pass back through the trail of the cannonball. It'll bounce towards you, and you'll just be able to dodge it if you keep going. IE Dodge left as the cannonball comes towards you, then immediately head right once it's past you, and keep going right until the cannonball bounce is past you again.
Yarrow in Deathblossom
Overview of the Battle
Yarrow is the final boss in Deathblossom, and his battle consists of several stages. Each stage introduces new mechanics and challenges that you must overcome to defeat him.
Initial Attack Patterns
The fight begins with warnings when vines emerge from the sides, threatening to kill you. After this, Yarrow will send two vines from right to left, which move up and down with a gap between them.
Weak Points and Dodging
As the battle progresses, Death will advise you to save your bullets for Yarrow’s weak points. Shortly after this warning, he will unleash an undodgable vine moving from right to left. To make this vine disappear, you need to shoot three flowers that grow during this phase.
Movement Strategy
Throughout the fight, Yarrow will be chasing you. It’s crucial to keep moving left to avoid his attacks. There will be occasional pauses in his movement, likely depending on the damage he has taken. Use these moments to shoot as much ammo at his mouth as possible. You can stop shooting the mouth when Death warns you to save your bullets.
Dealing with Blooms
In the second section and beyond, blooms may appear that can either pop up or burrow into the ground. These blooms can block your bullets and impede your movement. You can prevent them from causing issues by shooting them, regardless of their state. This is especially helpful for escaping the vines.
Tips for Success
Patience is key in this battle. Avoid being too greedy for ammo boxes, as there are plenty available throughout the stage. Taking unnecessary risks can lead to your downfall. Simply focusing on survival will often get you further in the fight. During the second stage, be cautious of ammo boxes near the top or bottom of the screen, as vines can quickly approach from those areas.
Final Advice
As you near the end of the stage, be careful not to go to the top left before the screen stops moving. Doing so may get you stuck behind some vines, preventing you from shooting the weak points and leading to your defeat.
Hopefully these tips for boss fights in Deathblossom have been useful and helped you out a bit.
