Winter Memories Game Review

Winter Memories (aka DojinOtome, aka Spoiled Child Winter) is the sequel to Summer Memories, a strange Japanese game that was notorious in “certain circles”.

For those who haven’t played the original – its oddity is that in Winter Memories we play as a little boy. We are not told his age, but by his behavior and abilities he can be no more than 10 years old, but all the ladies around, for some reason, do not consider it shameful to enter into unnatural relationships with him.

Plot and Gameplay

Oh, if my parents had known about what we did last summer, the whole family would have freaked out at the mere thought of sending us to visit my aunt and her two daughters. Luckily – they didn’t know anything, and so we, excited to have a new “experience”, set off to spend winter vacation in a familiar small town in the company of nice relatives.

As expected, the aunt greets us with a warm welcome. The “reception” from her daughters will be even hotter, which means we are in for another fun time.

Gameplay of the game has not changed at all – the same Summer Memories is in front of us, but in other scenery. We still move around the locations, search for hidden events, get acquainted with adult women and fulfill the conditions for their seduction =)

In addition to the three main girls, 7 more adult (and not so adult) ladies have been brought into the game, each with their own little story and ending.

Each girl is seduced in 5 stages, in each of which we need to fulfill all the conditions to advance further. These conditions are usually very simple – find some item, raise the parameter to a certain level and, in the end, be in the right place at the right time. The key problem in this scheme is time.

Vacation doesn’t last indefinitely – from the start of the game to its finale we were given only 18 days. The day is divided into classic intervals like morning, evening, etc. Every action of the hero, be it moving around the locations, talking to girls, mini-games, all this takes up precious time.

In 18 days you have to manage to give all 10 ladies enough attention to be rewarded with strawberries and…memories.

Memories in “Whinter Memories” are a key aspect of gameplay. The more impressions our kid gets during the day, the more skills we can pump in during the game session. At the end of each day, memory points are transformed into experience points. The skill tree is very simple and mostly unlocks us new poses and simplifies gameplay, but there are also skills extremely necessary to progress through the story with some of the girls.

In order not to bore us, we decided to stuff the game with mini-games, all of them are mostly simple – for reaction and intelligence.

Fortunately, despite the time constraints, the game will not deprive you of the opportunity to close Winter Memories 100%, as a new game + is present, with all progress with characters, inventory and abilities saved.

Fapability

After the success of the original part of the game, the developers became much bolder. Our “neighbors” remember what we did last summer, and therefore H-content in the game starts much earlier. There are more scenes, drawing and voice acting have reached a new level. The censorship in the game, unfortunately, was not removed – but it does not really interfere with the enjoyment of the game.

H-scenes in Winter Memories are divided into two types – story stages with girls are presented in the form of classic static CG-art, and “regular courtship”, as in the first part, are executed on the game engine, with beautiful animations and good voice acting.

Fap on Winter Memories – you can, the game is quite the right mood =). But there are problems with fapability too.

The first problem is the main character. But this is a problem for me personally =) He looks too much like a toddler, which makes it seem more funny than uplifting at times.

The second problem is that the game’s engine-based skits are too monotonous. Regardless of which of the 10 maidens the player starts a scene with – the only difference is the hair color and breast size – 8 out of 10 girls are too similar, which lowers the enthusiasm for the second half of the game a bit.

Unfortunately, given the game context, I can’t show you even 90% of the content, it all looks too obscene. Tried to gloss over and pick out all the most interesting stuff. Check it out:

Verdict

Winter Memories is a perfect example of a logical continuation of a successful game. In my opinion, they did everything right. They took everything we loved about the original, added more content, improved the picture a little bit and released – just what we were waiting for. A full playthrough of the game will take about 12 hours (if you aim to unlock 100% of the content).

All in all, Winter Memories is fun to play, and it’s also possible to fanfap on it, so – I recommend you to buy it.
