Ruins Seeker Game Review

So, in Ruins Seeker we play as an adventurous girl named Quem, she visits ancient ruins and with the dexterity and strength of a typical Asian loli smashes all the enemies to smithereens until she meets an extremely strong monster.

The monster is not ceremonious for long – stupidly takes away all the main character’s strength and curses her with a lust spell. Now, at certain moments, Quem’s body is unable to resist various lustful things, which eventually prevents her from defeating another pack of slime enemies…

Fortunately, another main character named Vise is nearby, she drags the GG to safety and promises to help break the curse.

Sounds like a typical plot for hentai JRPGs on RPG-Maker, doesn’t it? It is, the exact same plot was in Niplheim’s Hunter – Branded Azel for example.

Unlike most RPG Maker games, combat in Ruins Seeker is active rather than turn-based. The player moves on WASD, uses the mouse to control the direction of the protagonist’s gaze, and performs attacks in real time. There is even the ability to quickly dodge attacks via dash and instantly switch from melee weapons to ranged weapons. Gamepad play is supported. Such tricks on RPG-makers are rare.

The player’s task is to clear dungeons. Each dungeon is a small labyrinth, most of the rooms in them are filled with monsters. In general, you enter a room – kill monsters – go to the next one, and so on until the boss. In story mode there are 5 such dungeons, one for each chapter. The bosses at the end of the dungeons have unique mechanics, which is cool.

After the complete passage of one of the dungeons opens a kind of “endless mode”, something reminiscent of modern roguelikes. In this mode we endlessly go deeper into the gradually increasing complexity of the dungeon, meet random events and pump weapons, and so on until the defeat, which sooner or later will send the protagonist to the city.

By the way, yes, Ruins Seeker has a small peaceful town in addition to the combat locations. It is a sort of hub, where you can chat with local NPCs, buy consumables and get quests. Nothing particularly interesting happens in the city.

Jerkability

There are a total of 30 stages in the game. Most of them are given out for losing to one enemy or another. You don’t actually have to lose to monsters in battle to unlock h-content. At the end of chapter 3, the game will have a gallery that will automatically open all the battle H-scenes from previous chapters, making 28 out of 30 scenes open by the end of the game.

Absolutely all the scenes in the game are well animated. There is a little censorship in the form of classic for hentai pixelization, and it would seem, well here it is, what I asked for – an interesting game with animated scenes, not changing pictures, but…..

The H-content in the game turned out to be too….asian.

First, there are few scenes with “humanoids”, almost all of the scenes give away the wild but long-standing standard for hentai – tentacles, goblins, tentacles again, jellyfish, dogs, ogres, strange mechanisms, spiders (O_o), aliens, etc.

Secondly, the game has almost no interesting situations related to the main character’s curse. It would seem – even in the story many times emphasize that the curse progresses and the heroine supposedly becomes more promiscuous, but neither the scenes with monsters, nor the peaceful city life with NPCs it is not reflected. Clearly, the game’s genre isn’t Corruption, but the plot twist seemed to hint that the game was supposed to have such mechanics.

In general, these two points did not let me strangle the snake, and therefore, I give Ruins Seeker only 2 ❤❤ of 5. 1 ❤❤ I put on purely because of the pleasant picture and the presence of animations in the scenes.

Lost potential

An example of what I was talking about in phapability:

The heroine has an ability – Love Charm. It would seem that as part of the plot, she should be flowing and seducing everyone around her. But no. When using this ability in combat, the heroine’s health is reduced and her movement speed decreases, which allows opponents to “defeat” her more quickly. But it is possible to lose here without using this ability – the effect will be the same. When applying this skill in the urban environment, some NPCs get a little different dialogs, and in one case with the help of this skill we open a hidden H-scene and…that’s all.

As for me – if you make a game with H-content, especially with a plot-based lust of the main character, the more progressive, then you should make additional content related to NPCs, otherwise why are they in the game at all? There are at least 3 peaceful locations in Ruins Seeker, each with lots of men. There are bandits, there’s a brothel (what’s it for, by the way?), but the protagonist completely ignores her curse. In fact, this very curse of lust is only activated at plot points.

Verdict

It is obvious that Ruins Seeker was originally developed without H-content at all, it was, as they say, “Screwed in by the ears”. However, the game still has nice, addictive gameplay, interesting story and nice scenery. I can’t recommend it as a fap game, but I can give my verdict that the game is good and worth the money (but take it only at a discount).
